Greatest Love of All

Broke out Majestic last night. Borrowed the correct socks so first time actually wore the complete kit.
Hoping the socks on order come in soon.
No AR's and of course one team tries off side trap. Every. Time.
Other than that standard game. Lots of love on the field. Nice to see our youth active. I believe we need to them well and let them lead the way. Show them the beauty they possess inside.

Stat line:
half / total distance (km) / avg speed (min/km) / top speed (min/km)
1st: 3.29 / 14:15 / 3:20
2nd: 3.75 / 12:14 / 2:24

7.04 km !
At half, I thought I need to step it up so I did. High fives all around.

Visuals
PK in the first half. The player jumped and handled the ball, so yes, it was deliberate.

Went deep into the corner in the second. So deep it was off the field apparently.

Adidas really should have WC 2014 shoes to match the kits. And coordinated underarmour. Just saying.

Actually had a comment last post!
Anon suggested the following kit names:

red should be fireblossom
navy should be oathkeeper
yellow should be mediator
green should be grasshopper
blue should be heavenwater

Haven't worn yellow yet so can't comment on Mediator, but sounding good.

Khan Noonien Singh

Three summaries in this post.  If you get lightheaded, pause and catch your breath. Safety first.
I lucked out this weekend as my games were not in rain (or snow!).
Broke out the new red so big win there.
Taylor suggested Majestic. Kinda partial to that.
Must say it did look fine in the sun.

Good games all around.

Stat line:
half / total distance (km) / avg speed (min/km) / top speed (min/km)
Game 1 (35 min halves)
1st: 2.79 / 13:28 / 3:33
2nd: 2.94 / 12:49 / 3:09

6.96 for 90.
Seven is becoming my Khan. Excuse me for a sec...

That's better.

Game 2 (45 min halves)
1st: 4.30 / 11:22 / 3:09
2nd: phone died

Apparently, battery life doesn't extend for 2 games. Sigh.
On track for 8.60.

Game 3
1st: 3.02 / 15:29 / 3:10
2nd: 3.56 / 13:16 / 3:23

Thursday 1 May 2014

Good game last night, but the news is the WC 2014 kit. Specifically, I broke that bad boy out for the first time. It was a lot...bluer... than I thought it would be. Side note... I always chuckle when a player calls me "stripes" or "zebra".  1) I'm wearing a solid colour, and 2) neither black or white is present on the jersey. Sigh. But  I suppose stripes is easier to say than: "hey, warm blue that highlights your eyes and invokes memories of childhood."

Selfie of the new kit.

Is it a selfie with two people in the image? Is it now a pairie, or doublie? Twonie?

So now I need to name the kits. For those new to this, the previous WC kits were:
Adjudicator (yellow), Peacemaker (dark), El Presidente (red), Goldmember (Euro yellow).

I think I will go through the naming process after I wear them, so let's start with this lovely blue ensemble.

Random fictional sword names from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_swords
  • Excalibur: The sword which "Wart" pulls from the stone, leading him to be crowned King Arthur.
  • HruntingBeowulf's sword, given to him by Unferth.
  • Chrysaor: The sword of Sir Artegal.
  • Joyeuse: The sword of Charlemagne.
  • Précieuse: The sword of King Baligant the Saracen.
  • Heavenly Sword (倚天劍/倚天剑) : One of the two magnificent swords described in chapter 41 as being owned by the warlord Cao Cao. Cao Cao carried this sword personally.
  • Dragon Slaying Sabre (屠龍刀/屠龍刀): An extremely heavy sword rivalled by its counterpart, the Heavenly Sword (倚天劍/倚天剑). The sword was crafted from the Black Metal Sword (玄鐵重劍/玄铁重剑). It too was crafted by Huang Rong to hide a secret.
  • Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi: Literally, "The Grass Cutter", it is a legendary Japanese sword as important to Japan's history as Excalibur is to Britain's, and is one of three Imperial Regalia of Japan. Its proper name is Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi ("Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven") but it is more popularly referred to as Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi. It has also been called Tsumugari-no-Tachi.
  • Heaven's Will: The magic sword of King Lê Lợi, a major Vietnamese national hero, is supposed to have made him very tall, gave him the strength of many men and was instrumental in his freeing Vietnam of Chinese occupation. Like Excalibur, it was the gift of beings living in a lake who eventually took it back (see Lê Lợi#Le Loi - Myth and Legend).

I like Precieuse and Heaven's Will.  Maybe change Grass Cutter to Grass Runner.
But I think I shall go with:
Oath Keeper.  Love the name, risk of overuse due to Game of Thrones and these guys but still. Better than Kings Slayer I suppose.

Game stats:
Stat line:
half / total distance (km) / avg speed (min/km) / top speed (min/km)
1st: 3.20 / 14:39 / 3:03
2nd: 3.64 / 13:10 / 3:34

6.84 total. Not considering the game pace.

Visual:

The singular track to the goal line was to administer a send off. Yes, a late tackle contacting the opponent in the mid section with feet is a send off. Yes, I understand you think you were 'playing the ball'.
